The Saiyan
race is from the planet Vegeta, which is named
after the king Vegeta. A long time ago, the
planet was invaded by Freeza and everyone on the
planet, apart from young Goku, Raditz, prince
Vegeta, Nappa (and in the movies Brolli, Paragus
and Taurus) was killed. The survivors were either
in space at the time or in taken in as one of
Freeza's men.
Full blooded Saiyans have black
hair, black eyes and a tail. Their hairstyle
never changes. A Saiyan has either a pure good or
a pure evil heart. Their power increases
drastically when they narrowly escape death. They
are all named after vegetables.
 When a Saiyan with a tail
sees the full moon, they turn into a giant ape
called an Oozaru. In this form, they lose control
and will thrash about destroying everything. To
reverse the tranformation, its tail must be cut
off, or the source of moonlight blocked. Saiyans'
tails are their weak spot. When they are young,
their tails grow back, but at a certain age if
cut off a new tail won't grow back. In DBGT the
'Golden Oozaru' is introduced and is considered
to be the strongest Saiyan form. On the planet
Vegeta, full moons are quite rare.
 If a Saiyan
is powerful enough and angry enough, they can
become a Super Saiyan. In this form, their hair
turns golden and their eyes turn green and their
power increases drastically. The first Super
Saiyan level is Ssj1, but the highest ever
accomplished was Ssj4. A Super saiyan can't make
a Genki Dama (Spirit Bomb) because there is too
much anger in his heart.
